Kern Rx Return is a safe medication disposal project that provides free receptacles for the disposal of unused, unwanted or expired prescription and over-the-counter medications. Receptacles are located throughout Kern County. Disposing of unused and expired medications properly prevents misuse and abuse of medication which can lead to addiction. Furthermore, proper disposal protects our environment by keeping possible contaminants out of our soil and groundwater.

Kern Rx Return is an initiative of Drug Free Kern (DFK) in partnership with Kern Behavioral Health & Recovery Services. Drug Free Kern aims to reduce the impact of substance and alcohol use and misuse on youth, families, businesses and the Kern community through effective evidence-based prevention, early intervention, and suppression strategies.
